Each year The Puget Sound Business Journal honors 25 large companies that give back their time and resources to support our local communities, and Comcast Washington was honored to be included on this list once again this year.
The awards were announced earlier this month at the Business Journal’s annual Corporate Citizenship Awards event, which was held virtually this year. You can view the full list of recipients in the publication’s writeup announcing the 2020 honorees.
The Business Journal surveys local businesses each year about their monetary contributions, in-kind giving and community service efforts. The publication then ranks the top 25 large companies, medium companies and small businesses based on their efforts to strengthen our communities through philanthropy. In the last year, this list of 75 combined companies donated a total of $185.6 million to important causes in our state.
Our philanthropic focus over the last several years has been centered on accessibility, digital inclusion, volunteerism and services, military engagement, innovation and entrepreneurship and skills for the digital economy.
While we remain diligent in our work across these categories, this year we recognized a need to adjust how we approach our support statewide to address the impact of COVID-19 on our local community and to facilitate needed discussions and campaigns around social and racial justice issues.
Through new support programs like our Ready for Business Campaign and Fund with GSBA, our work with the city of Seattle to support small businesses and equitable job opportunities, and through collaborations with nonprofits like United Way of King County and Asian Counseling Referral Services, we are finding new ways to help our communities in Washington state.
We are proud to be one of the state’s top corporate giving partners and we know that our work is not done as 2020 has given us new challenges and opportunities to support this community.
