We recently announced a $50,000 contribution to the United Way Community Relief Fund, which was started in response to the growing needs of our communities of color, immigrants, refugees, and more. The Community Relief Fund is designed to provide people with immediate access to food, rental assistance and the support they need.
But we knew we could do more and continued to meet with United Way of King County to better understand what is needed to make a difference and make a difference in our community. What we quickly learned is that more needs to be done.
United Way of King County raised $5 million thanks to our contributions and support from other corporate partners. These funds were forecasted to provide rental assistance to about 2,000 households. But when United Way opened the application, 7,000 households applied.
As the largest cable TV provider in Washington state, we knew we had a unique opportunity to make a greater contribution than just writing a check. That is why we launched a public service announcement (PSA) campaign, aimed at raising awareness for the Community Relief Fund.
