When Pat Patterson and Richard Aranzamendi, were asked to drive a unicorn down the streets of Seattle, they of course said yes. After all, it’s not every day an opportunity like this comes along.
The unicorn was actually an Xfinity van that needed a qualified technician to steer it through the Seattle Pride Parade route. Pat and Richard, Comcast technicians based in our Seattle field office, have been married for three years and were honored to be part of Comcast’s first march in the Seattle Pride Parade.
“We were thrilled that Comcast was participating in the Pride Parade,” Patterson said. “The parade plus the support of the OUT@Comcast Employee Resource Group shows that Comcast cares about all aspects of a person, not just who they are at work, but who they are as an individual.”
More than 100 Comcasters, friends and family marched beside the van — transformed into a unicorn with industrial strength magnets — on Sunday. “The crowd loved the unicorn. I was driving and Richard handed out candy, hats, backpacks and other giveaways to the crowd”.

The Washington OUT@Comcast Employee Resource Group (ERG) in partnership with our Community Investment team led the charge for the Pride Parade participation.
“We were so honored to be part of this day. It was inspiring see so many Comcasters together celebrating love, inclusion and diversity. You could feel the positive vibes as we proudly marched through downtown,” shared Jen Martinez, OUT@Comcast co-lead and Anthony Piedmonte, OUT@Comcast External Engagment Committee Chair.
