Saying “Foof” to Responsibilities: Comcast Celebrates Community and Service at Thurston County’s Iconic Foofaraw

Last Friday, Comcast employee volunteers joined hundreds of active-duty service members, veterans, and local leaders for one of Washington’s most unique and heartfelt traditions—the 63rd Annual Thurston County Foofaraw.
If you’re from the Evergreen State and haven’t heard of Foofaraw, you’re in for a treat. This one-of-a-kind event—hosted by the Thurston County Chamber and the Olympia Yacht Club—is all about saying “Foof” to the daily grind and embracing a day of gratitude, camaraderie, and Pacific Northwest charm.
Held on the scenic shores of Budd Inlet, Foofaraw is more than just a quirky name. It’s a celebration of service and community, where nearly 400 military guests are honored with games, socializing, and a classic salmon BBQ—served up with all the warmth and hospitality that makes our region special.
As the exclusive broadband sponsor, Comcast was proud to help bring this tradition to life. Our team showed up with purpose. From funding co-branded shirts for all attendees to engaging directly with service members and community leaders, we were there to say thank you and to strengthen the bonds that make Washington such a vibrant place to live and serve.
Foofaraw reminds us that sometimes, the most meaningful moments come from simply being present. For Comcast, it was a chance to honor those who protect our freedoms, connect with our neighbors, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting veterans and military families across the state.
To all the Foofarites who joined us—thank you for letting us be part of your day. And to our incredible team who represented Comcast with pride: Foof on, Washington!
