YWCA and Comcast Partner for Mayor Harrell’s 4th Annual One Seattle Day of Service

This past Saturday, our Comcast team had the incredible honor of joining forces with YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish for Mayor Bruce Harrell’s 4th Annual One Seattle Day of Service. It was a day filled with purpose, community, and connection—and we couldn’t be prouder to have been part of it.
At the heart of our efforts was the YWCA’s historic Phillis Wheatley Branch, a cornerstone of support for women and families in Seattle’s Central Area. Our employees rolled up their sleeves to assemble back-to-school backpacks, create welcome home kits, pack food bank bags, refresh paint, and organize storage spaces. Every task, big or small, was a step toward helping those facing food and housing insecurity.
One of the most memorable moments of the day? A surprise visit from Mayor Harrell himself. He stopped by to thank our volunteers and YWCA staff, reminding us all of the power of unity and civic pride.

“With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Seattle has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to show the world who we are – a city united by compassion, inclusion, bold action, and a deep commitment to each other,” said Mayor Harrell. “I was proud to join together with partners like YWCA and Comcast on the One Seattle Day of Service to showcase our values, give back to our city, and build stronger communities.”
This year’s Day of Service brought together more than 2,500 volunteers across 85+ events citywide. It was inspiring to see neighbors, nonprofits, and businesses come together to beautify neighborhoods, restore green spaces, and support vulnerable communities. Our collaboration with YWCA was just one example of how collective action can build a stronger, more connected Seattle.
At Comcast, we believe deeply in the power of community. Partnering with YWCA for this event was more than just a volunteer opportunity—it was a chance to live our values and stand in solidarity with those working every day to make a difference. Whether we were painting walls or packing supplies, our team showed up with heart and purpose.
We’re grateful to YWCA for their decades of service and for welcoming us into their mission. And we’re thankful to Mayor Harrell for creating a space where service and community spirit can thrive.
Here’s to building a better Seattle—together.
