City of Seattle Partners with Comcast to Announce$3 Million in Grants to Local Small Business Owners

A man and a woman smiling.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Comcast is partnering with the City of Seattle to announce a significant initiative: $3 million in grants for 100 small business owners in King County through our Comcast RISE program.

This initiative is part of our commitment to support the growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs who are dedicated to uplifting their local communities. We’re providing comprehensive grant packages that include a technology makeover, creative production, a media schedule, educational resources, a $5,000 monetary grant, and business consultation services.

Seattle’s small businesses are the backbone of our community. They create jobs, build community, and add vibrancy to our neighborhoods. Mayor Bruce Harrell emphasized the importance of supporting these businesses, especially as they face challenges like inflation and public safety concerns. We’re excited to bring the Comcast RISE program back to King County, offering not just financial support but also critical investments in technology, marketing, and operations to help businesses stabilize, grow, and succeed.

According to a recent U.S. Chamber of Commerce report, inflation is a top concern for 58% of small business owners, and more than one in three are worried about revenue. We understand these challenges and want to help. Our vibrant small business community in the greater Seattle area is something we all cherish, and we strongly encourage small business owners to apply for the Comcast RISE program. This program is designed to provide the resources needed to help your business thrive and contribute to the economic growth and resilience of our community.

From May 1-31, eligible small businesses in King County can apply for the Comcast RISE program at www.ComcastRISE.com. Winners will be notified in August. Throughout April and May, local small businesses can learn more about the program, eligibility requirements, and how to apply by attending free information sessions held by our community partner organizations, including the Bellevue Chamber, Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce, and Tabor 100.

Rachel Smith, president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, has highlighted the challenges small businesses face and the positive impact of the Comcast RISE grants. We’re serious about being part of the solution by offering financial support and technology services that help local businesses get a leg up. These businesses are the social fabric of our neighborhoods, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Chamber to help our members connect to this opportunity.

King County is one of five regions selected by Comcast for this grant package, along with Boston (MA), Grand Rapids (MI), Nashville (TN), and South Valley (UT). These recipients join the 14,000 entrepreneurs nationwide who have been selected as Comcast RISE recipients since the program launched in late 2020.
