Xfinity Mobile Speeds Increased by more than 100 Mbps in Washington State Service Area

In the past two years, download speeds for Xfinity Mobile users in Washington have increased by more than 100 Mbps. This is mostly because of something called Wi-Fi offloading. With Xfinity Mobile’s PowerBoost, your phone can use Wi-Fi hotspots in people’s homes and in public places instead of using Verizon’s cellular network.
By using these Wi-Fi hotspots, Comcast can lower costs for both the company and its customers. Comcast has also made deals to have more Wi-Fi hotspots all over the country. For example, in Washington, nearly 100,000 public Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots are available to Xfinity Mobile customers.
Most of the data on mobile devices is actually served by Wi-Fi, not the mobile network. Comcast’s President, Michael Cavanagh, said that 90% of Xfinity Mobile smartphone traffic uses their Wi-Fi network. Here are some fun facts about Comcast mobile phone/service offerings:
- When residential customers switch to Xfinity Mobile from “The Big Three,” they can save up to 50% on their wireless bill, and business customers can save up to 70%.
- Nearly 90% of Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile data happens over WiFi.
- Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile customers can get speeds of up to 1 Gbps when they connect to millions of WiFi hotspots or in their homes if they have an iPhone and our latest Xfinity gateways.
- Three out of four residential customers subscribe to Unlimited lines on Xfinity Mobile, and four out of five business customers subscribe to Unlimited lines on Comcast Business Mobile.
Xfinity Mobile has proven to be a great addition to Comcast’s portfolio of products. With a 12 percent penetration rate, it has a huge runway for growth, especially in Washington, where 2.8 million homes and businesses have access to Xfinity and Comcast Business products and services.
