Comcast continued our work with Seattle community learning center, Literacy Source, delivering 70 laptops to the nonprofit as part of a broader partnership. Literacy Source partners with adults working to gain skills and education to create new opportunities for themselves, their families, and the community. Literacy Source helps adults learn basic computer skills, including email, internet, Zoom, and Google Drive, as well as Ready-to-Work programming focusing on digital skills within workforce development and work readiness.
In addition to the laptops, Comcast is providing a monetary donation to Literacy Source and is building off similar laptop and monetary donations made over the past five plus years. Advancing digital equity is a top priority for Comcast, which makes Literacy Source an essential community partner.
Comcast is also helping Literacy Source add a second digital literacy class in 2024 to either support all students at a foundational digital skills level or create an upper-level class for students who want more computer learning. The laptops donated by Comcast also come with complimentary digital skills booklets and the company is sponsoring the organization’s Empower through Literacy Rise & Shine Breakfast in April 2024.
