UPDATE: 2 p.m., Sept. 14, 2015
Comcast engineers report that lines have been re-routed, restoring services to areas in Renton that were affected by a fire as described below. Planning for a permanent repair to the line has been under way.
ORIGINAL POST:
As of noon Monday , Comcast engineers were evaluating severe damage caused to fiber-optic lines by a fire caused by other parties in Renton. The fire was not related to Comcast operations. In the meantime, we have re-routed and continue to re-reroute traffic on existing lines. This will restore services to the affected parts of Renton more quickly than any other solution though it might have a temporary effect on surrounding Internet speeds.
Re-routing will bring different areas back up at different times so no reliable ETA is available. We appreciate our customers’ patience and will not rest until service is restored to everyone. We anticipate the next update to this post will be 2 pm if not sooner.
