Info for Residential Customers Using VPN with New Modems

Our newest wireless gateways provide the fastest in-home Wi-Fi yet, and are a great tool for anyone who wants to work from home while wearing their favorite slippers, and avoid that Puget Sound traffic. (Click here for info about growing wifi services and the Xfinity Wifi network) We strive to make sure our customers can use virtual private networks (VPNs) from any vendor they choose.

However, to make things easier for some customers who recently told us they have been having trouble connecting to their VPNs, we have some good news. Our engineers identified and fixed a technical issue associated with one of our newest advanced wireless gateways (Technicolor model TC8305C) and no further action is necessary at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience some of our customers with this particular model may have experienced.

If you haven’t had any problems using our equipment to access your VPN, you are good to go and there is nothing you need to do at this time. If you are still having problems, we suggest that you first re-start or power cycle your modem before calling us. Re-starting a modem is easy. Just un plug it, wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Here is a video on how to re-start or power cycle your modem.
