Comcast crews are again swarming Spokane today to assess and repair damage from the summer storm. In many places, we’re cheering on electrical power crews that have to go into these areas first, and conducting whatever repairs we can in surrounding areas while they do their magic. We wait until electrical crews have completed their repairs and make the area safe before we move in and begin our work.
As of Friday morning, we’re estimating work needs to get done on or about 50 fallen or damaged poles. We estimate about 3,000 customers remain affected. (note: as of about 1 p.m. Friday, we’ve revised that number to about 2,200, down from a peak of about 10,000 at the height of the storm). We’re active in several areas, such as Lower Indian Trail/Lower Nine Mile area. As of 9 a.m. Friday, these are some, though certainly not all, of the hardest hit areas still facing power crews:
- N. Driscoll Boulevard by Joe Albi Stadium
- Mill Road and Highway 395 north of Hastings. This would include the Wandermere Heights PUD area and the Forest Creek Apartments.
- Waikiki Road by the Spokane Country Club
- Mill Road/Dartford/Little Spokane intersection
As we said in yesterday’s post:
In 99 percent or more of the time, when your electrical service is restored, your Xfinity services will come right back up. In some cases, it’s good to perform a powercycle to clear the equipment. If your service is still not working, that could be because of storm damage that you, and therefore we, did not know about until now. And of course that’s very frustrating, because all you the customer knows is that you had to wait just to get power back up.
We also know it’s aggravating when power to your home is back up, but not in surrounding areas, which can sometimes affect transmission of Comcast’s services. Please be assured our teams are out there to get all of Comcast’s service area in Spokane County up and running.
