Comcast Supports Communities in Schools of Bellingham with PSA video campaign

Comcast in Washington has long supported Communities in Schools , and we’re pleased to welcome a new office in Bellingham that will help schools and youth there. We’ll shortly begin airing a PSA to raise awareness and raise volunteers in Whatcom County.

We love Communities in Schools because its staff and volunteers make a real different for youth. This is what CIS of Washington had to say on its blog:

Communities In Schools of Bellingham , the organization’s newest Washington State office, is now ready for a new school year. A key part of their program is mentoring and tutoring youth who are struggling in school. To help with their efforts Comcast will air public service announcements to help recruit volunteer mentors and tutors.

“This is a great opportunity for an organization fairly new to the area to get out the word and to connect with people who want to get involved,” says Dennis D’Amelio, CIS of Bellingham executive director. “Comcast support means a lot not just to us in Bellingham but to the entire Communities In Schools network in Washington.”

In addition to funding various CIS programs, Comcast has, over the past five years, supported our work with public service announcements in King and Pierce counties, and then adding Spokane in 2009. In addition to spreading general awareness about our work, Comcast public service announcements have translated into hundreds of volunteer opportunities.

A big thanks to Comcast for your support!
