The gray skies and drizzle didn’t stop Comcast Washington employees and their friends and families from arriving early and excited to celebrate the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle on Sunday. Comcast volunteers enthusiastically joined a morning cheer line along a path through the UW campus.
Employees clapped, whistled and gave ‘high-fives’ to the approximately 4,000 athletes and coaches who participated in the procession, on their way to the opening ceremony at Husky Stadium. “It was an amazing event and such a thrill to join my co-workers in cheering on the athletes as they marched through campus,” said Michelle Becker, Comcast Washington. “The fun and excitement continued at the opening ceremonies in Husky Stadium. In addition to music and entertainment, we had an opportunity to see athletes like Frannie Ronan speak and even spotted Andrew Fowler in the crowd.”
As a partner with Special Olympics Washington, Comcast Washington recently held athlete appreciation events for Frannie Ronan and Andrew Fowler, among other Team Washington athletes leading up to the Special Olympics 2018 USA Games in Seattle, Washington July 1-6, 2018. The public service announcements are part of a more than $1.7 million cash and in-kind contribution by Comcast as a local sponsor of the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games and partner with Special Olympics Washington.
