Comcast Business has announced the expansion of its advanced network to more than 145 businesses located between Interstate 5 and 20th Street East in Fife,  just east of the Puyallup River Bridge. Comcast Business invested $380,000 to bring fiber and coaxial cable to the triangle-shaped area between Interstate 5, 54th Avenue East, and 20th Street East.

“We are very pleased that Comcast has installed service in this area,” said Bethany Bryant, manager of Warthog Barbeque Pit, which hosted an event with members of the community to welcome the new network. “Our business is always looking for ways to gain a competitive edge, and by using the Comcast network we have already noticed significant efficiencies – and we won’t go back.”

A recent study by Pb7 Research and Exact reports that small businesses that adopt the cloud double their profits. Comcast Business’ new high-performance network delivers data, voice and video services that will improve productivity by supporting cloud- and Internet-based systems and applications.

“By expanding its network to our local area, Comcast is not only investing in the Fife community, but is also helping to grow our Chamber,” said Lora Butterfield, president of Fife Milton Edgewood Chamber of Commerce. “Access to an advanced network and leading-edge technology will help our area businesses grow and compete in the marketplace, which is important to our local economy and for career opportunities for our residents.”

“For businesses of all sizes, access to reliable, high-performance Ethernet services is an important tool to fuel growth and improve efficiency,” said Matt Fassnacht, Vice President Comcast Business in Washington. “Our investment in extending the Comcast network to Fife is part of our ongoing commitment to bringing local firms more technology options to fuel economic development.”

The high-capacity fiber network will provide these businesses in Fife with the ability to access the Internet at speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second (Gpbs), providing enough performance to meet the needs of local organizations today and well into the future. These businesses will now have access to scalable, high-performance Ethernet, Internet, WiFi, TV and advanced voice services on the new network.

Companies and other organizations in the area will now have access to Comcast’s comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet services, including Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Services that provide dedicated Internet access, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint service. Local companies will also be able to deploy Comcast Business VoiceEdge™, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution designed to improve business communications with enhanced mobility.

Comcast’s network features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC. Bandwidth is available up to 10 Gbps and can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers. Comcast was the first service provider in the world to offer Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 certified Ethernet services and was also the first service provider to achieve all three of the previous CE 1.0 certifications (MEF 9, 14 and 18).

In late 2014, Comcast Business received four Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Ethernet Excellence Awards, including the prestigious Best Service of the Year for North America.
