Breaking Barriers in Broadband: The Cable Gals Represent the Pacific Northwest at SCTE Tech Expo
At this year’s SCTE Tech Expo in Washington, D.C., a trailblazing team from the Pacific Northwest made a lasting impression—not just for their technical skills, but for the powerful message they brought to the industry. The Cable Gals, representing the SCTE Mount Rainier Chapter, became the first all-women SCTE Cable-Tec Games team to attend the national event, proudly showcasing the innovation, inclusion, and excellence that define our region.
Led by Coach Brenda Carlberg and joined by teammates Jennifer Cameron, Tera Pine-Solomon, Yvonne Jerdee, and Jenna Rubens, the team participated in training, networking, and interviews with the SCTE Media team. They were also invited to serve as alternates in the national Cable-Tec Games—an honor that speaks volumes about their preparation and dedication.
From mastering fiber splicing and OTDR operation to studying installation standards and coax splicing, these women exemplified the spirit of continuous learning and collaboration. Though they didn’t take home the award, they were proudly introduced as finalists for the SCTE Spirit of the Games Award, recognized for inspiring other women to get involved and for sparking community interest in the industry.
Their journey began with a simple question and grew into a movement—one that’s already motivating fellow Comcasters and industry colleagues across the country. We are excited to celebrate The Cable Gals as they continue to represent the Pacific Northwest with pride, purpose, and a commitment to shaping the future of broadband.
