Celebrating Digital Inclusion Week: Unlocking Student Potential in Bellevue Through Technology

Digital access has become essential for everything from homework and research to virtual collaboration and career readiness. Without reliable technology at home, even the brightest and most dedicated students can struggle to keep up with their coursework.

In honor of Digital Inclusion Week 2025, we’re spotlighting a powerful moment of community impact in Bellevue, Washington—where access to technology is transforming lives and leveling the playing field for students. We recently donated 100 laptops to the Bellevue School District, reinforcing our commitment to advancing digital connection in Washington and making a significant impact on the local community.

Local Impact

A special event was held at our Xfinity Retail Store in Factoria Village, and Seattle Refined was there to capture the donation and delivery of devices that are unlocking student potential in Bellevue.

Why It Matters

In today’s world, digital access is essential for learning, working, and connecting. This donation ensures that students aren’t held back by technology limitations at home. By providing additional laptops, we’re helping families overcome barriers that can impact academic success.

“These devices are more than just machines—they’re tools of opportunity,” said Oliver Hoang, Comcast Retail Market Manager, during the ceremony. “While the district does an incredible job ensuring every student has access to a device, we know that sometimes one isn’t enough. Whether it’s siblings sharing a single laptop, parents needing access for work, or students pursuing advanced STEM education—these computers will help fill those gaps.”

Comcast’s Broader Commitment

This donation is part of Project UP, Comcast’s comprehensive $1 billion initiative aimed at providing digital opportunities and ensuring that everyone can benefit from being connected to the Internet. “Over the past three years, we’ve invested over $12 million in Washington as a part of Project UP to support digital skills training, expand Wi-Fi-connected Lift Zones, and fund organizations working to close the digital divide,” added Hoang. “Today’s donation is part of that mission. We want every student to have the tools they need to succeed—not just in school, but in life.”

This a major opportunity that we are addressing for the kids.”
