Xfinity Unveils Free Wi-Fi Security and New Internet Device

Smartphone showing xFi Advanced Security feature

To kick off 2020 Comcast made some announcements at CES 2020 to improve the Xfinity internet experience for customers in Washington state using our popular Xfinity xFi Platform.

The first is free advanced cybersecurity to protect your home. We are giving away xFi Advanced Security, a feature that automatically protects devices from online threats, for free to customers using our xFi gateway.

New customers will receive Advanced Security immediately upon activating their xFi Gateway, and the feature will begin rolling out to 18 million existing eligible xFi customers over the coming weeks. It requires no software download set-up other than logging into xFi via the mobile app or online site. xFi Advanced Security makes it simple and easy to protect all wired and Wi-Fi connected devices in the home; including smart TVs or thermostats, or devices without keyboards or screens like security cameras or smart speakers.

And that is not all! In addition to free Wi-Fi security, we are excited to bring our customers our most powerful internet device ever – the new xFi Advanced Gateway – one of the first Wi-Fi 6 certified devices in the U.S. and capable of delivering multi-gigabit speeds.  This new device brings the latest in ultra-fast, low latency internet connections – meaning more speed, support for connected devices and Wi-Fi coverage across your home.

Now, customers get the Wi-Fi speeds they need for things like cloud and online gaming, 4K video streaming, and VR and AR experiences. The Advanced Gateway is also designed to handle all the mobile and smart home devices coming online today and in the future. And with new built-in technology, coverage across larger homes will be better than ever.

These additions are only making Comcast’s Xfinity xFi platform even stronger – giving you the ultimate in-home internet and Wi-Fi experience.   with xFi, customers have a simple, digital dashboard to set up and manage their home networks and see what devices are connected, set parental controls, get notifications about activities on the home network, and even pause Wi-Fi access to certain devices during dinner or bedtime.

You can also ensure whole-home Wi-Fi coverage by adding xFi Pods; small, easy to install devices that plug into any electrical outlet and extend connectivity to the hard to reach areas of the home. And, now with Xfinity Flex, customers can easily manage streaming entertainment and connected devices on the television using the award-winning Xfinity Voice Remote.
