More than 5,000 people from the Kent School District (KSD) community attended the district’s annual Tech Expo at the ShoWare Center in Kent on Jan. 14.

Comcast served as the proud Presenting Sponsor of the expo, where students and teachers demonstrated technology in use in the classroom and the skills learned. Attendees chatted with teachers and students on their programs and participated in hands-on booth activities. At one booth, students showcased their work developing video games, while at another popular exhibit, students controlled five-foot-tall robots from joysticks. At a corner booth, a crowd gathered around kids conducting mock forensic testing, “CSI”-style, by injecting matter into test tubes. Down the aisle, students presented their miniature-built cities of the future with an emphasis on green technology.

It is Comcast’s second year sponsoring the Tech Expo and its first as the Presenting Sponsor. Kent School District and Comcast both believe in the power of integrating technology in the classroom and advocating for technology access for all students at home and in school.

“Comcast’s role as a major sponsor of the Expo was key to the tremendous success of this year’s event,” said KSD Superintendent Edward Vargas. “Comcast’s generosity helped allow our students and teachers to showcase state-of-the-art technology in teaching and learning being used every day in our 41 schools. It demonstrates to our community exactly how their investment in technology for our schools is paying huge dividends in preparing our students for their futures in a 21st Century global economy.”
