Comcast is a proud national partner of United Way, which raises money for needs and groups across the country. We wanted to share a couple of exciting video projects related to United Way.

Above, you’ll find a video we put together with the United Way of Pierce County and one of our execs, Sean Bristol. Our video production manager, Ed Hauge, and I worked on this video to build excitement within Comcast Washington for our own employee United Way drive, which concluded this week. The final numbers are not in, but we met corporate goals for giving and are excited to raise money to help the community. (look for an update soon)

The video features Bristol as he re-creates a visit he made a year ago to a United Way-funded program, the Hilltop Artists at Jason Leigh Middle School in Tacoma. This group works with young people to inspire and educate; to learn more, the video above pretty much says it all. Sean tells his fellow Comcasters that he saw firsthand how his donation helps kids; and you’ll hear from some of the children themselves.

Meanwhile, Ed and I had a separate project going that helps United Ways in a different way. Several United Ways told us they’d like to raise public awareness of their programs. Ed very kindly agreed to take one 30-second PSA and put a different tag at the end for each partner. We’re now airing those spots throughout Western Washington and Spokane.

“As a smaller United Way, we wouldn’t have been able to make this happen on our own. In fact, this is true for most of the United Ways across the state. These PSAs will help all of us reach a wider audience in our own areas, inspiring them to join us in our work of advancing the common good, said Tamara Tregoning, Director of Resource Development for United Way of Whatcom County.

“Comcast’s commitment to United Way’s work across the state came through loud and clear with this project. The best part is that the PSAs are localized so each United Way participating has their local information in their area.  The partnership between Comcast and United Way – at the local, state and national level is strong. This is just the latest and most local example of their support for our mission,” said Neil Parekh, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for United Way of Snohomish County.
